TRANSFORMATIONAL PARENTING

Updated: Mar 11, 2019

This week at church I shared my top 10 tips on transformational parenting that might help you create a culture in your home that will allow your children to flourish ......................

“Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.” Psalm 127:3

PRAY

If we believe that our children are a gift from God, it makes sense that we would talk to God about them. Never underestimate the power of a praying parent.

MODEL

God has positioned us as super models in the lives of our children, equipping us to live a faith filled life before them.

"These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. "

Deuteronomy 6:6 -7

GIVE THANKS

If we believe that our children are a gift from God, it makes sense that we would be grateful to God for them.

DEDICATE

Dedicating a child acknowledges God's sovereignty not only over the child, but also the parent. In presenting the child before God and His people we are asking for grace and wisdom in carrying out our responsibilities.

LOVE

If we want our children to be fearless and flourish it is essential we love them and create an environment that honours love.

“Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up”

I Corinthians 13:7 TPT

BELIEVE

Our children are born with unlimited unpacked potential and purpose. Let’s believe in them and for them.

ENCOURAGE

As parents we have the privilege of being our children’s greatest cheerleaders.

"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds"

Hebrews 10:24

TEACH

As the primary influencers in our children’s lives we have a unique opportunity to teach them everything we know about God and developing a relationship with him.

"Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it"

Proverbs 22:6

FORGIVE

Forgiveness is hard but if we want our children to understand its value its important that we demonstrate it to them.

"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you"

Ephesians 4:32

NEVER GIVE UP

There isn’t anything that God can’t restore which means there is always hope.

"Anyone who is among the living has hope --even a live dog is better off than a dead lion"

Ecclesiastes 9:4
